Held every two years since 2003 and hosted on a rotational basis by the Partner States. In 2011 the Conference transformed into the East African Petroleum Conference and Exhibition. The Seventh edition of the Conference themed:East Africa Region - Proven Destination for Investment in Petroleum Resources for Regional Energy Efficiency and Lasting Socio-Economic Development was held in March 2015.
Objective: To Promote Petroleum Exploration Potential and Investment Opportunities in East Africa.
The conferences bring together: Government, international oil companies, oil industry service companies, academia.
Activities include field excursions to regions that Partner States would like to promote for exploration and investment.
Increased interest for exploration in the region has been witnessed since the conferences.
Participation at the conferences has also grown tremendously from 150 in 2003, 500 in 2009 and about 1,500 in 2013.
